Kara is an everyday wellbeing and self-reflection product operated by VELA SOLUTIONS LTD, a company established in the United Kingdom. This policy explains how we handle information when you use Kara, including the website at https://karadays.com.
The information described in this policy is held in the United Kingdom.
Kara is not a medical service. It does not diagnose or treat conditions.
1. Information we collect
The information Kara processes depends on how you use the product. Some information is needed to create and secure an account. Other information is only processed when you choose to add it.
A. Account information
When you create or use a Kara account, we may process:
- name or display name
- email address
- account or user identifier
- authentication and session information
B. Wellbeing information
If you use Kara’s wellbeing tools, we may process the information you enter, such as:
- mood check-ins and mood intensity
- optional reflections, feelings and everyday factors
- habits, including water, breathing, sleep and meditation
- breathing sessions and sleep logs
- weekly progress information you generate in the app
C. Optional media and content
Some features are optional. We process the following only when you choose to provide or use them:
- an optional photo attached to a check-in
- an optional voice recording
- bookmarked wellbeing content
- profile details and app preferences
D. Technical information
To operate and secure the service, we may process limited technical information, such as:
- security and session identifiers
- application or device technical data needed to run the service
- operational logs
- crash or diagnostic data, if that monitoring is enabled
Kara is not designed to collect precise location. We do not describe location tracking as part of the current product.
2. How Kara uses information
We use information to:
- provide the features you request
- create, authenticate and maintain your account
- save your progress and sync it between supported Kara clients
- send password-reset and email-verification messages
- help prevent abuse and protect the security of the service
- operate, support and improve the reliability of Kara
Kara is not designed around behavioural advertising or personalised ads.
3. Private wellbeing information
Mood notes, reflections and other wellbeing entries are not a public social feed. Optional photos and voice attachments are not published publicly by default. Access is scoped to the authenticated account that created them.
Kara does not treat private wellbeing information as public content. People you have not shared with through a supported account feature should not see that information as a feed.
This policy does not claim end-to-end encryption, zero-knowledge storage, or health-privacy certifications such as HIPAA.
4. Storage and service providers
Kara uses specialist providers to host and operate the service. At a high level, current infrastructure includes:
- DigitalOcean — application hosting and server infrastructure
- MongoDB — database technology
- Cloudflare R2 — private object and media storage
- Resend — transactional email delivery
Kara may use error-monitoring services such as Sentry when enabled.
These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us. The information they hold for Kara is kept in the United Kingdom.
5. Email
Kara sends transactional email needed to run an account. That can include:
- email address verification
- password reset
- important account or service communications
Transactional email is sent using Resend. This policy does not describe marketing email campaigns.
6. Legal bases
VELA SOLUTIONS LTD is established in the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law applies, we process personal information on conservative, commonly used bases, including:
- contract — to provide the Kara account and features you request
- legitimate interests — for security, reliability and abuse prevention, where those interests are not overridden by your interests
- consent — where an optional permission or feature reasonably requires it
- legal obligation — where the law requires us to keep or disclose information
This section is a high-level explanation, not legal advice. It does not include a regulator registration number.
7. How long we keep information
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, subject to legal, security, backup and operational requirements.
If you delete information or your account, copies may remain for a limited time in backups or operational logs where that is technically required. We do not promise immediate physical deletion from every backup.
8. Account deletion and your controls
Depending on the Kara client you use, you may be able to:
- update account or profile information
- manage app settings and preferences
- export a copy of your account data
- delete your account
Account export is intended to give you a copy of your own account and wellbeing records. Media files may be represented as metadata rather than full file bytes.
For the public account-deletion page, see Delete your Kara account. You can also write to support@karadays.com.
9. Permissions and device features
Kara may ask for optional device permissions so a feature can work, for example:
- notifications, if you enable reminders
- photo or media access, if you attach an image
- microphone access, if you record an optional voice note
You can usually refuse or later change these permissions in your device settings. Refusing a permission may limit only the related optional feature.
Kara does not currently integrate with Apple HealthKit or Android Health Connect. If Kara introduces optional health-platform integrations in the future, this policy will be updated before those integrations are made available.
10. Children
Kara is not designed for use by children where parental consent or additional legal protections would be required without those protections being in place.
11. Where information is held
Kara is operated from the United Kingdom. Account, wellbeing and related service information described in this policy is held in the United Kingdom.
12. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including:
- authenticated account access
- access controls for the Kara service
- private backend storage for wellbeing records and media
- restricted access to production infrastructure
No online service is completely secure. This policy does not claim that Kara is unhackable, military-grade, or end-to-end encrypted.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Kara changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
Where a change is material, we may also tell you through the website, the app, or an account or service communication, as appropriate.
